The Location

South East Sulawesi, Indonesia is in the heart of the Coral Triangle and boasts some of the highest levels of marine biodiversity in the world. Miles and miles of pristine reef surround this small island, offering unlimited opportunities to encounter unusual & exquisite creatures. Wakatobi’s house reef is considered one of the finest dive sites in the world and is literally right off the beach. Enjoy a full day of diving off the spacious dive boats and then take a leisurely dusk dive after a short swim from the shore. Blue ring octopus have been found in the turtle grass right below the pier! Cuttlefish, rhinopias scorpionfish, pygmy seahorses, ornate ghost pipefish, countless nudibranchs.. these are all frequently sighted at this unique destination!

The Diving

Nowhere else do you have such ease of access to miles of pristine reefs with diverse topography and marine life. Forget about long and arduous boat journeys, at Wakatobi, it’s all here to enjoy stress free. The resort offers more than 40 sites to dive, and all are accessible by the day boats. The House Reef is world-famous and has been named the world’s best. Some guests even choose to forgo boat dives because the seagrass beds, reef, and wall right in front of the resort provide enough territory and diversity for days of exploration. And there is no need to swim long distances. We even offer a taxi-boat service to transport divers up current to extended parts of the House Reef for an easy and enjoyable drift back to the jetty.

Night Diving

Night diving at Wakatobi is fantastic! One or two night dives (depending on the length of the trip and weather) will be offered from the day boats. And you can dive any night on the house reef (unguided buddy teams). Simply gear up at the dive center and walk in off the beach

The Snorkeling

Wakatobi is a snorkeler’s dream. Daily boat excursions offer access to some of the world’s most breathtaking shallow reefs. You can also independently explore the House Reef, a vibrant reef teeming with healthy corals, seagrass meadows, and myriad marine creatures.

Conservation

The entire Wakatobi region is now protected as a marine park! The local village and surrounding communities have enthusiastically adopted the conservation plan to protect this vital resource. Illegal fishing, reef walking, and other activities detrimental to the coral reef are banned. A portion of the proceeds from your trip goes back to the community to sustain and support the protection of these amazing and vibrant marine ecosystems!
